Sam Laurin Portfolio

I had to find an already existing magazine for this project. The articles are all from the original. I was unlucky enough to not be able to find them online, so I had to copy all of the text myself... Apart from that less fun bit, I really enjoyed this project. I got to design one magazine, but with all different kinds of historical subjects. That let me try out different styles all in the one project.

The most frustrating part of the actual design part of the project was the cover. After different attempts that made it look more like a political magazine instead of a historical one, a different teacher suggested using the old polish flag, since Lech Walesa is polish. Eureka! I had found my cover page! And at the time Walesa's story took place, poland had it's old flag with it's coat of arms. I just used the red and white stripes already on the flag as an opportunity for interesting text using white space.
