About Me

Hey you arrived to my website well welcome! My name is Amy and graphic design is my passion. It’s one of the only few art forms where your drawing skill isn’t as important as the process of designing itself is which is why it appealed to me. Feel free to take a look around at some of my projects which include, logos, menus, business cards, app concepts and some of my web work...Read More

The Imitation Game Movie Poster

Imatation Game Poster

For this poster it had to represent a movie or a tv show in a simplistic way. I chose to create my poster on the movie, The Imitation Game. I wanted a simplistic way to represent the main character and the enigma machine. So I decided that the main character should be drawn in circles, which represent the tubes on the enigma machine.

Awarness poster against smoking

Awarness Poster

When designing this poster I wanted to do something that was simplistic but also conveyed my message well. I came up with the idea of having the cigarette branch off into black, unhealthy lungs. I also didn't want it to just be black lungs so I decided to add facts about smoking onto the lungs.

App Concepts

College app concept

College App

It seems like some college apps (or at least mine) combine both what the college wants and what the students needs but I believe college apps should have a stronger focus on the students (as well as teachers). So I created a college app concept with a larger focus on students.

Fitness app concept

Fitness App

I wanted to create an app concept for fitness that would not only combine routines to help you reach your goal but also would suggest the perfect recipes to fuel you to reach your goals.

Logos

Swiftmail logo

Swiftmail Logo

I wanted to create a simple logo that represent the fact that this site is an email site. So I thought why not replace the A with a paper plane but I also wanted to represent the word swift that is in the name so I added the 3 lines to give the illusion it was moving swiftly.

Expo 67 logo

Expo 67 Logo Concept

My dad actually worked as the manager of the Russian boutiques at Expo 67 so when it was the 50th anniversary of the Expo I wanted to create a logo in honour. I wanted the logo to be simple but still represent the great event. so I incorporated the curved the line to represent the sphere that made the expo popular.

Business card

Swiftmail logo

I wanted to create a business card for myself I wanted something that was different but still affordable. So after 3 different designs I chose this one because it was square which made it different and also because it was simple.

Magazine Covers

Swiftmail logo

Creating magazine covers is one of my favourite graphic design projects to work on. When creating a cover I start by choosing a photo then when the photo is chosen I add my content. Finally it’s colour picking time, I like to the pick the colour for my content from the image itself because I think it creates a cohesiveness. Sometimes I will use a darker shade of a colour in the image but most of the time I will try to use the colours from the image. When creating a magazine cover think that the image itself is your colour palette.

About Me

Hello,
My name is Amy and I’m a graphic designer. I started to have an interest in graphic design probably around 6-7 years ago. I used to look at multitude of websites online and wanted to be able to everything I saw including the graphics incorporated on the site. Now with 3 years of the graphic and web design program under my belt and I can happily say that I am capable of that. It was so awesome to me after my first semester when I was able to use photoshop or illustrator to create cool banners, like this one here to your right. This was one of the first banners/logos I ever created.
Since then I have been able to better develop my design skills thanks in part to the amazing teachers here in the program. I was able to understand how to better use typography like with this project here called the decade type project.
After doing this program for 3 years there is so much I have learnt that I have been able to implement into each project I do. Not only do I implement just what I have learnt I have also incorporated my style into and every project do.
I also was able to take what I learnt and use it in my work. This past summer I was given the opportunity to work for a graphic designer which has given me so much experience that I could have not otherwise received had I not taken this job. I learnt so much and was able to improve my design skills because of that.
