After graduating in this field I will be the first Inuk women of my region of Nunavik, populated with roughly 12,000 people, to hold a Graphic & Web Design diploma.
I am one of six to eight% of my people in my region continuing my education at a higher level.
One of the main reasons why my peers (Inuit) drop out, is because they miss home for the hunting seasons and another reason is a culture shock. The only way to get home for us Inuit from Nunavik is by plane.
My flight is about 1,500 kilometersnaway from Montreal where I am attending my school, that is excluding an hour to two hours before checking-in for my flight.
