ABOUT ME

Biogrpahy

I remember being a kid waiting in line at the movie theaters and looking at the posters for the upcoming movies and thinking to myself “Wouldn’t it be cool to someday do that?” It turns out that designing movie posters, album covers and even book covers is a viable way to make a living. You can imagine my excitement upon learning this. In grade school, I would constantly be doodling little thumbnails of my favourite movie posters, capturing what made them so iconic in the margins of my notebooks. This is where I started to develop my creative process as a designer. I’ve always preferred to design small thumbnail versions of projects before even thinking of tackling a full-size version. It allows me to see all the elements of the design and ensure everything works together, and if they don’t work together I haven’t wasted any time because these small thumbnails are quick and easy to recreate. As I got older I designed more refined versions of already established brands. I would take the famous poster for my favourite movies or albums of the time and add or remove elements that I found were either lacking or were not needed. After graduating high school, I knew I wanted to pursue what was once a hobby as a full-time career, so I registered at John Abbott College in the Graphic and Web Design Program. Here is where I learned to use many of the industry standard programs and take my amateur designer skills from years past and refine them to be used in a more professional and efficient way.
