Works of Deconstructivism


Minimalism and Cubism both had an influence on Deconstructivism, as it is a disconnection from cultural references and dissects form and content from different perspectives. Expressionism, neo-expressionism, and abstract expressionism are also associated with this movement as it sometimes involves deformation and dislocation like them.
Maya Lin's 1982 project for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial influenced Deconstructivism with its shard-like form, creating a sense of fragmentation, and its emphasis on reading the monument's minimalist text
Frank Gehry is mainly known for his commercial architectual designs, but also designed some residential spaces, including one for himself.
The entrance to the Louvre Museum in Paris was designed by Im Pei in the Deconstructivist style, though there is criticism in the more modern look it has in contrast to the traditional looking architecture around it.
The architecture firm, SITE architects, began to produce designs for the company BEST Producte in the mid 1980's. In the designs, there was the attempt to be as creative as possible within the realm of Deconstructivism while maintaining functionality.
