Ever since I was young, I’ve always had a passion for art and design. I was captivated by the design of video game logos and the cover art you would find on the physical copies. Something about the visuals on a cover giving you a hint about what you we’re about to play or listen to has always interested me.

In CEGEP at first, I didn’t quite know what I wanted to do. I knew I liked art, but I also really liked working with computers. After taking a Photoshop and basic HTML course as an elective I knew what I enjoyed doing, Graphic Design.

Why Graphic Design?

Graphic Design for me became an outlet to express that creativity that I’ve always had since I was a child. The concept of creating an art piece and letting that art piece help promote a person and help them out in either the business world or a movement is extremely exciting for me.

What I enjoyed the most in the GWD program

In my three years at John Abbott’s GWD program, I found both creating branding and front end web design to be my favourite things to work on. When we had to create brands for some of our classes I enjoyed creating logos and posters and translating them into a website to give it personality.

Another thing I liked about our Graphic Design program is working with peers to create something. An example would be the branding project wherein a team we made the brand “Sweet Paint” an environmentally friendly spray paint company. I enjoyed being able to work as a group to have a different opinion on projects to make the final product shine.

Hobbies and Inspirations

Cyberpunk Sci-Fi art has always been an inspiration for me.  As a hobby, I make cyberpunk designs and digital art from time to time. One of the Graphic Design projects I’m proud of that I made was a themed Cyberpunk bar called Androids Martyr. I made a website, business card, infographic and a menu for it. I was inspired by the 80’s Sci-fi trends at the time. If you’re interested, you can check it out on my portfolio website.

For my future, I plan on getting a full-time job and then later seeking out university to further my study.
