My name is Emilie Ahier, I am currently a Graphic and Web Design student at John Abbott College. I joined this program 3 years ago and at that time I didn’t even know if I would like it. I knew what Graphic Design was, but I didn’t know I would develop such a strong feeling of belonging. For me, detail is extremely important, and I find that I have a strong eye for it; I love to create minimalist and colourful designs and I am always eager to learn more. In this program, I really discovered who I was and what I wanted in life. As someone who is driven by the desire to create; I am passionate about my work. Above all, I wish to find a career path where I can express my creativity on a daily basis.
Previous Studies
Previously, I graduated from Cégep du Vieux Montréal in Social Sciences in the profile international questions. This diploma is in line with my values because I am someone who loves to learn about different cultures, social issues, and history from around the world. Therefore, my perspective on the world is different from most people. In my opinion, I have a better understanding of international issues in terms of anthropology, sociology, history, and geopolitics. Incorporating this knowledge in the workplace would be easy for me in regards to social interactions between co-workers, managers, and customers.
What the Future Holds
I’ll graduate from college in May 2019 and hopefully work for a design firm or be part of a company. It interests me to work in an environment with other creative people where we can inspire each other. Indeed, being part of a team is where I find I have a purpose and I know I can bring my experience and design skills to the table.
