Spotify training manual book design by GWD 2019 grad Arianne Fennell.

In their second year of studies, Graphic & Web Design students learn to design professional corporate-style documents such as training manuals, eBooks and annual reports. The comprehensive assessment requires the presentation of a single book chapter from one of these projects.

The submission must represent all the facets of the book’s design, including the chapter intro page (usually with graphics), at minimum a two page spread of body text displaying the different typographic variations.

Technical book chapter design skills

Using software like Adobe InDesign, students learn to produce complex multi-page documents using productivity techniques such as character and paragraph stylesheets, master pages, as well as configuring the required options to successfully export a print project for electronic distribution as Adobe Acrobat PDF or ePub files.
