On m’a souvent surnommée la “one man show”, dans mes emplois.

For every role I have had, PDHT has prepared me for with the pertinent technical classes, whether project management, business requirements documents to contract writing etc:
All of my work experience has been in a 100% IT environment, and you’ll see I have worked in every aspect of what was taught in the program. Project management, development, design

After JAC, I attended York University’s YSDN program, where I continued my design education. The technical skills and stage experience I acquired from JAC, gave me a clear advantage over my classmates, who had little to no experience with Adobe’s suite of apps. This enabled me to focus on more advanced learnings and qualify to work part-time as the University’s Jr Graphic Designer.

“Leaving the GWD program on the honour roll, and with a leadership award in hand, I moved on to Concordia University. I was accepted into the design program with the portfolio I was able to create in the three year Graphic and Web design program.
“The technical skills I learned from GWD program gave me confidence, a fantastic edge and prepared me immensely.”

“I began my career fresh out of college in an intern role that quickly transitioned into a contract position. I owe a lot to the teachers of the 412 program for assisting in a major way in finding me this role.
Almost 7 years later, I am still working for the Aldo Group, having maneuvered my way to a Senior Designer position with much of the responsibilities of an Art Director.
I truly believe that the program at JAC allowed me to succeed in my role and prepared me more than adequately for the real world.”

“Without my education from John Abbott College, I would not have been able to succeed in this industry. Not only did my education include graphic and web design but it also taught me technical trouble-shooting, customer service, and time management skills. I owe my success to the Graphic and Web Design department.”

“PDHT had prepared me more than adequately for the challenges I’ve faced, taught me how to efficiently multi-task and how to be autonomous, as well as how to work collaboratively. In the last year I’ve been able to leverage my skills and loyalty at the company to a Senior Design position, wherein I manage the overall brand consistency across web, mobile and print projects.”

“I attended John Abbott back in 2010-2013 and graduated from the PDHT program. This program landed me a fantastic stage at a company called ITM Instruments. This company’s head office is situated in the West Island in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue. I started my stage in April 2013 and I am still working with this company today.”

“As Fall approached, I was extremely nervous going into the Design program at Concordia fearing that I would not be “good enough” to keep up with other students. Throughout the first few weeks of the program it become abundantly clear how much more knowledgeable I was in regards to all the software required thanks to my education in PDHT. I quickly became a go to resource for my peers looking for help with Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and InDesign.”

“I got to do a lot of different things with my first client coming out of John Abbott: multilingual sites, eCommerce sites, custom booking systems, mobile applications, web API and Flash games. I had to do a lot of learning on the fly, thankfully PDHT had taught me how to continue learning on my own.
Since I was freelancing and PDHT prepared us to work remotely, I was able to be quite mobile. I lived in the UK for a bit and have several clients there.”

“I owe a lot to the course I took at JAC. And I never took any other courses since really. It is the foundation the let me build everything I am today. It taught me the leading edge software and coding. I know this because I had to pass a technical interview at Bloom. And I knew all the new CSS that the industry expected.”

“PDHT/GWD has probably been one of the best decisions I ever made when it came to my career. The skills learnt, the people I met and the confidence gain throughout the 3 year program has done wonders for my career. Not only did the program allow me to take a stage in Nice, France and meet wonderful people (some that I am still in contact with today). PDHT/GWD was also paramount in me getting a position at Rolf C. Hagen Inc.”

“Du côté graphique, j’ai pu apprendre et maitriser la suite Adobe utilisé, tandis que sur le plan Web, j’ai appris les langues nécessaires me permettant de convertir un design en site Web. Le personnel enseignant m’a aidé à pousser d’avantage mes connaissances, répondus à toutes les questions que j’avais, même si elles ne faisaient pas parti du curriculum, et continue à me guider et supporter, même près de 10 ans après ma formation.”

“I completed my stage at the end of 2007. It became very clear that I was more prepared for the tasks at hand than certain colleagues from other schools. I decided to niche my skills in front end development as these were becoming highly sought-after skills in Montreal and in IT.
I had opportunities to apply my skills in a vast number of projects ranging from video streaming websites to phone applications and even video games. I was promoted to Team lead within 3 years and to a Project Management position within 5 years.
I am now a Director and manage a department with over 100 employees in two countries.

Class of 2011
Since graduating I have never had a job that didn’t rely heavily on the skills I learned in the PDHT program.
I started freelancing in late 2010. During that time I did everything you can imagine: print design, web design, web development, marketing campaigns, videos, corporate presentations, copy writing, etc.
Today I am a Creative Director, with a team of over 20 designers, artists, and front-end developers. I am responsible for all our marketing creatives, product user experience (website, mobile application, and desktop application), branding identity, and managing almost 1/3 of the product team.
I definitely could not do the job I do today, as well as I do, without what I learned at John Abbott.
