Currently, I am a full-time student eager to learn different skills in order to improve my experience and self confidence in the graphic and web design business. In a work environment, I am reliable, respectful, honest, and of course, I have an amazing sense of humour. I love to bring positivity in any room, because I believe that every moment in one’s life should be filled with happiness and should be productive.    I also am extremely understanding and retain information with ease. Also, I would like to mention that I am not perfect.  I am clumsy and often learn what not to do through trial and error. However, these errors are what make me gain the experience that allow me to say that I determined and persistent in this work domain.

Going behind the scenes

My goal is to go into a university like Concordia in computer science. After taking the first 3 classes of computer science in our program this semester made me realize how little I actually understand about a website. Exploring the back end of a website will have several advantages. The biggest one is being able to use these skills to troubleshoot any back-end problems when designing a website. I’ll also be able to help both sides of the website project if necessary. I find that I am more of a technical type of person. Things like web designing, photography and video editing are things that appeal more to me in the design world. This is why I like to lean my career towards this side of the industry.

If There was an Award for the Most Indecisive Person

Graphic design wasn’t an immediate choice for me when considering options to study, however, I did know that I wanted to utilize my creativity in some way. I considered traditional media, like drawing, painting, etc, but there’s always the question of stability. Yes, it would be fulfilling creatively, but as a perfectionist I couldn’t see myself thriving longterm.

Design started to make a lot of sense. Finding a balance between joy and practicality is my goal in life regarding many aspects, so this fell in line with that quite easily. With that being said; here I am.

Education and Skillset

After completing a stage that lasted for 2 months in the summer of 2019, and having nearly completed my full degree in Graphic & Web Design, I have developed many skills and practices that are essential for professional design. I am currently a full time employee at King Canada working as a Graphic designer. I have had great opportunities every day to face many difficult challenges during the months that I have been working here. Every day is a learning experience and another day to improve myself as a designer in the working fields.

As a Graphic & Web Designer I have a strong understanding of both Photoshop and Illustrator. I am constantly learning new programs such as QuarkXpress while improving my skills and abilities with other programs such as Excel and InDesign.

Road to Becoming a Social Media Marketing / UI Designer

For about a few years now, I’ve been looking to take my education to the next level and pursue a career in Graphic & Web Design after John Abbott College. First of all, my main goal is to eventually major in a design program at the university level. The main school I am looking to get into is Concordia University. I want to soak in as much as I can to improve my skills and eventually work for a company that focuses on the sportswear or streetwear industry. I also would like to start a company of my own to help companies brand themselves. Social media marketing is another aspect that intrigues me and is something I’m looking into as a career path due to the fact that I believe it is the future. In today’s society, almost every company has a social media account on different platforms because it’s at its peak.

The Importance of Learning

As my designs progress, I would like to continue my education and work part-time as a designer. I have my eye on Concordia University in the Design and Computation Arts programs. Moreover, I want to educate myself more on the field that I am in to be as successful as possible. I believe that a higher education is very beneficial to myself because as a graphic designer, there is always much to learn.

Antonio Gonzalez C. – What’s Next? Graphic Web Design

About me

My name is Antonio Gonzalez Campeau and I am 20 years old. When I entered the Graphic and Web Design program at John Abbott I was unsure of what program or career path I wanted to take. Now in my third year of GWD, I’m still uncertain of what I want to do. I don’t know why I chose GWD and some might say it was a waste of time but I disagree. I’ve learnt so much through this program and I don’t regret any of the choices I’ve made.

Studies

Throughout my 3 years in Graphic & Web design, I’ve learnt so many valuable skills. I’ve learnt so much about Adobe’s Creative cloud programs, HTML, CSS, print, animation, photography, marketing/business and so much more. So many useful skills and techniques that have influenced me as a designer.

Graphic Designer/Illustrator

My name is Dmitry Fritz and I am currently studying Graphic and Web design at John Abbott College. Some of my main interests include photography, illustration and branding.

Branding is very important because it creates the first impression the public will have of the organization. I think that the most important aspect of branding is logo design. It is very rewarding to create a logo that is visually pleasing. I enjoy the challenge of finding a graphic that expresses what the organization or company is about.

Graphically expressing myself using different illustration tools is a skill set that I continually try to expand. Developing designs by hand is one lso like to create designs by hand. I really enjoy calligraphy and developing fonts that are appealing to the audience. I also like sketching. It is a very effective way to develop graphical concepts even if they have to be transferred to digital format. Creating something by hand allows one to use their technique differently. I particularly like using Photoshop and Illustrator. I would like to use this software and improve my skills during my internship.

In addition to this software, I also want to be able to use my photography skills. I find inspiration when taking still life and nature photography. I would like to incorporate some photography in my future work.

In my internship I hope to apply my skills I have learned in a real working environment. I hope to use this to my advantage when I start full time work hopefully after I graduate.

Below are some samples of my work. Hopefully they will give one some inspiration.
