Admiring fashion, the new trends every year since I was a little, that’s why it was easy for me to choose my niche of interest. Fashion has a big impact on my life since forever now. How I dress in the morning is how I set my mood for the day. I always tell myself I have to dress to impress not just for people around me but myself included. My niche of knowledge would be in the direction of the graphic design for the fashion industry based in Montreal. The fashion industry has been a subject that I’ve appreciated for many years now. I would devote my two strength together to have the best work experiences.

When I was younger, I never worried much about the future. Things worked out for me and I found that I never had a difficult time in deciding what I wanted to do or how I wanted to do it. It’s only in my last semester at John Abbott College where I really felt the pressure of making decisions for my future. It required me to sit down and actually make a plan.

When one is being a creative, there is not right or wrong way of doing it. It’s what you decide to make of it. I think life should be taking in this exact context. Letting it be free with how you wish to take it as long as it gets to its destinations.

Changing the World One Design at a Time

I am Laura, a UX/UI designer whose aim is to improve user experience through branding and user interface design. For this reason, I decided to immerse myself in the creative side of design.

An overview of who I am, and who I aspire to be

When I came into graphic and web design at John Abbott College, I knew one thing for sure; I was going to work for Vogue one day. Magazine layout design is what I was made for. And then in my second year at Abbott, I had a photography class and the lines became blurred.

“It’s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then.”

Alice in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll

Now, I absolutely love photography and post-processing. I’m underdeveloped, but I want to grow and learn. I want to gain creativity and individuality all while keeping up with current trends and staying relevant. I like to work with people who are in that same mindset or who can help me figure it all out.

Roxanne Lyristis: The Foreign Freelancer

The allure of the vast world, and the exploration of it, is what pulls at the strings of my soul. All the cultures there are to learn from and be immersed in, all the waters that will kiss my toes at their shorelines, all the sunsets there are to view from the peaks of the mountains I’ve climbed, every towering building in the rushing city streets I may wander down, and all the languages I can try to twist my tongue into speaking– has always lit a fire in me.

HOW CAN I APPEASE MY INTREPID SOUL WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY BUILDING MY CAREER?

No matter where I may find myself in the belly of the planet, my skills, knowledge and experience in content creation will allow me to provide businesses and individuals with professional design services that will grow or strengthen their brands and online presence. Since remote workers and online work opportunities are growing in popularity, I can connect and work with clients and/or colleagues via my laptop, wherever my wild heart may reside in that moment.

SO, WHAT AM I LOOKING FOR IN A STAGE?
