About Me

My name is Nafia Tariq and I am Graphic and Web Designer. My specialty is to create work that is clean yet looks complex and meaningful. I am a fast learner and I tend to work efficiently which saves everyone a lot of time. My head is filled with ideas that I sketch at first and then deliver it digitally. I enjoy making sketches on paper but also on tablets, which makes it easier to share by email. I work and collaborate amazingly with other individuals and enjoy meeting new people whenever I get the chance. I love getting feedback that can help me deliver the work the client exactly wants.

Where did it all start?

How did I get into the world of Graphic and Web design? It goes back to my last year of high school. I had to choose a program for college, but I did not know which program I should apply to. What career did I want to practice for my whole life? I finally found Graphic and Web design at John Abbott College. I dove right into this program, and I loved it. I like that it is a career in which I can explore my creativity. I love that I can help others realize their dreams by designing for them. I enjoy that I am working with technologies that improve every year.

Alexandra Maher

Hello there!

My name is Alexandra but you can call me Allie.

I am a driven artist who loves learning new things and using my imagination. I especially enjoy working with Adobe Illustrator as vector graphics are my specialty.

How I get started

One of the most important steps that I love to start my projects off with is doing research. As a person who loves to learn, I think it is essential to do research on a brand before I take any other steps. Although not all of my projects are based on real companies, I have learned that every brand has its own values and history that need to be shown one way or another through its designs. For example, I had to create a presentation and campaign for the brand “Shea Moisture”. When doing my research on this brand I learned the story of the founder, Sofie Tucker, and her hard work to provide for her children by selling Shea Butter along the countryside of Sierra Leone. Understanding this brand’s rich background helped me to start sketching out ideas. Similarly, when doing a design for any type of brand I always want the companies core values to be included. Once I have the core value in my mind then I can create!

Harishan’s Objective

I produce Graphic Design work for friends, families and, companies who need it. Photoshop, Illustrator and, InDesign are my 3 main software to do work. My specialties are to improve existing designs and keep clients satisfied with their work being better. I receive photos from clients, and I edit them using photoshop to add effects and make them more realistic. I also make logos and business cards for companies and businesses who need them a lot. I use InDesign to make posters, booklets and, other cool designs for friends so they can start a business for their interests. My interest as a designer is to provide them all the support. My other interest is to be a freelance designer so I can also help clients and help myself as well to achieve the ability to use other software. That way, I can offer a wide variety of help. My ambitions are to be a good graphic designer in having skills in using a lot of the Adobe software so I can have the ability to master more than 3 software at once. My other ambition is to gain experience in being a skilled coder as well so I can make websites for clients who require it. What inspired me to be a graphic designer and to go down this path is Saul Bass. I’ve seen all the work he has done, and I gained motivation out of it and was determined to be a designer like him in making vector animated posters about movies.

Maria Santamaria – Graphic Design/Social Media Marketing

Hi, I’m Maria Santamaria, I’m into graphic design is because I’ve always been creative in a lot of different ways and I find that graphic design is an amazing profession that allows people to be creative. If you ever want to know more about me honestly the best way to do it is just to ask, I’m pretty much an open book & I’m super sociable.

My main goal for working full-time during the stage is to really dive deep into discovering my “style” as a designer. Working with new people and new companies brings new opportunities and chances to learn new things!

My dream stage placement would be a company that has a strong social media presence. After graphic and web design I’m considering going into social media marketing. As of right now, I would definitely say social media, in general, is a major passion for me and the growth of my personal account is a hobby for me as well.
